This body exists by the power of God to and for the glory of God. Bringing glory to God is our primary aim because it is God’s primary aim (Exod 6:6–7, 9:14–16; Isa 11:9; Num 14:21, Hab 2:14; John 17:1–5, 24; Eph 1:11–14; Rev 4:8, 11, 5:9–12, 7:9–12, 19:6–7). Because God is glorified as His people are increasingly conformed to the image of His Son (Rom 8:28–29), the primary function of this body is the proclamation of the Word of God, heralded in word and modeled in deed, that the saints might be taught, reproved, corrected, and trained in righteousness, to the end that we would be complete and equipped for ministry (2 Tim 3:16–17; Eph 4:11–12), to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Eph 4:13).
Deriving from this primary function, this body shall strive to be obedient to God’s call to worship Him (John 4:23–24); proclaim His gospel locally, domestically, and to the ends of the earth, both directly and through partnership with those who demonstrate a clear commitment to this specific work (Ps 67:1–7; Matt 28:18–20; Rom 10:8–17); observe the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Acts 2:38–39; Rom 6:3–4; 1 Cor 11:23–26, 34); encourage, promote, and facilitate biblical fellowship (Acts 2:44–47); serve our community in keeping with our gospel convictions and interests (Gal 6:10); labor to strengthen other local churches that share our chief aim, our commitment to the proclamation of the Word, and preach the same gospel as we do, keeping with the faith once for all delivered to the saints (1 Cor 16:1–3; Jude 3).
